"That means leaning into the uncertainty of where the conversation will take you and following your curiosity, instead of just sticking to the script."
Your quote above describes the hesitation many public educators feel. Often teachers are not comfortable with uncertainty in the classroom and thus students are being held to "the script." Comfort with uncertainty and embracing curiosity is the path forward for both students and educators in the public system; I am just not sure how we get there.
It’s challenging! Even at TKS we have things we want to cover but need to find ways to balance organic conversations/discovery with our own agenda.
Are there other opportunities for students to have those discussions outside of class? For example sometimes we host events where we talk about a random topic if it seems interesting in a session (or students self-organize those conversations!)
I would love to report public education is providing those opportunities for community and connection; however, I feel it is very limited. I attended the TKS Industry X Education Vancouver Community last night and there was rich discussion around the question: "If I had a magic wand, one thing I would change about education is..." Much to learn and work toward.

I honestly would love to know your answers to the last few questions lol
